Description
The premises of C. Taswell is a house that includes a shop, likely originating from the 17th century and remodeled in the early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick with a plain tile roof and features brick ridge stacks. The building has a lobby entry plan and stands two storeys high, showcasing a first-floor band and dentilled eaves. It has four slightly irregular bays; the inner windows are 16-pane glazing bar sashes with wedge lintels and raised keys. To the left on the first floor is a small glazing bar casement with a wedge lintel and raised key, balanced on the right by a small blind segmental headed window. The ground floor features a canted bay shop window and a half-glazed door to the left, with a roughly central six-panelled door that has moulded pilasters and a bracketed hood. This building occupies a key position in the center of the town.
