Description

The terrace retaining wall, located approximately 10 metres to the west of High Hatton Hall, dates from around 1762. It is constructed of red brick in English bond and features chamfered grey sandstone coping. The wall stands about one metre high and stretches approximately 50 metres in length, returning at the western end. There is a centrally located flight of seven steps, which is flanked by low walls and stone-capped square piers. These steps are aligned with the summerhouse in the adjoining garden wall of High Hatton Hall. This structure is included for its group value.
