Description

SJ 62 SW STANTON UPON HINE HIGH HATTON HEATH C.P. 10/142 Terrace retaining - wall approx. 10 metres to west of High Hatton Hall GV II

Terrace retaining wall. Probably circa 1762. Red brick (English bond) with chamfered grey sandstone coping. Approximately one metre high and 50 metres long, returning at west end. Roughly central flight of 7 steps flanked by low walls with stone-capped square piers. The steps are axially aligned with the summerhouse in the garden wall (q.v.) adjoining High Hatton Hall (q.v.). Included for group value.
