Description
The tithe barn at Home Farm, dated 1619, is a Grade II* listed building located in Hodnet Park. It features a timber frame with red brick nogging, and the top two tiers of panels are boarded behind the frame. The barn has a dressed red sandstone plinth and a plain tile roof. The framing consists of small square panels, with five panels running from the sole plate to the wall plate, and it is arranged in five framed bays.
On the west front, there are three boarded loft doors and three pairs of two-leaf boarded doors. The east front has a blocked former central entrance, with low chamfered buttresses to the plinth flanking the former entrance and at the ends. The gable ends also have boarded loft doors. The barn features collar and tie-beam end trusses, and the collar at the north end is inscribed with "R . M /A N. DO.1619. IVLY . 28. /W . P". The interior includes an inserted floor.
