Description
The Tithe Barn, located about 20 meters northeast of Parsonage Farm, is a 15th-century aisled barn that underwent alterations in the 17th century. It features a timber frame set on a rendered red brick base and is weatherboarded with a half hipped tiled roof. The barn consists of seven bays, with the western bay being somewhat shorter. A central gabled midstrey projects from the south, flanked by gables over the three adjacent bays. Casement windows have been inserted into the structure.
Inside, the barn showcases jowled arcade and wall posts, arched braces connecting to cambered tie beams, and slightly curved passing braces that are lap jointed to the aisle ties and arcade posts, linking the wall posts and tie beams. Additional braces extend from the arcade posts to the wall posts. The roof includes butt purlins and features splayed and tabled scarf jointing. A 17th-century roof truss is present, with queen struts supporting the collars, some of which clasp the purlins.
