Description
The Coachhouse and Posthorn Cottage, located in Palmers Guild Court, is a house dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of painted brick and features old plain tiles, with an 18th-century brick ridge stack on the left side. The building has two storeys and a cellar, with a five-window range that includes 20th-century 8/8 sash windows flanked by 6/6 sashes, all set under 20th-century brickwork. A heavy oak wall plate is visible, along with two tie-beams. There are four 20th-century 6/6 sashes in 20th-century brickwork, and to the right, there is a passage to the rear, which is under segmental arches and has a storey band above. The passageway features a moulded oak frame, exposed ceiling beams, and a post, with the right-hand wall made of rubble. The rear is finished in rendered rubble with 20th-century windows, while the right side is returned in rubble with an 18th-century stack. The interior contains exposed massive beams and plates. This building was formerly part of the Angel Hotel.
