Description
Walcote House is a building that now serves as a shop and dwelling. It features an early 19th-century front but has a core that dates back to the 17th century. The structure is made of brick and has a Welsh slate roof, with a brick stack at the end and another brick stack at the rear. The layout includes a central staircase plan.
The house is three stories high and has a three-window range. The central window is a 6/6 sash, flanked by 8/8 sashes, all of which are set under gauged brick flat arches. These windows are accented by brick pilasters, stone sills, and wrought-iron guards. There is also a 3/6 sash window with a round head beneath a semi-circular arch on stone springers. All the sashes have beaded cases.
The entrance features a central 6 fielded panel door with a fanlight in a panelled case, which is topped by a flat hood supported by fluted pilasters. This door is flanked by 8/8 sash windows under gauged brick flat arches. To the far left, there is another entrance with a 6 fielded panel door that has a round head, set in a wooden case beneath a semi-circular segmental arch, with a late 20th-century moulded flat hood above. At the rear, there is a 17th-century jettied wing.
