Description

The cobbled roadside verges on the east side of Broad Street in Ludlow were created between 1829 and 1830. These raised cobbled surfaces, which are approximately 1 to 2 meters wide, slope between the pavement and the road. They begin opposite No. 14 and extend southward to No. 32. The verges were constructed as part of gradient improvement works that followed the recommendations of Thomas Telford in 1829.
