Description

This mid-19th century commercial property, likely built as a shop, is located on Castle Street in Shrewsbury. It is constructed of brick with a hipped roof covered in plain tiles. The building is three storeys high and originally had a three-window facade. A late 20th-century shop front has been inserted. The remaining windows are casement windows with transoms, each set within a flat-arched stuccoed surround. A continuous string course runs above the windows. The central window space is blank. A recessed curved corner detail features casement windows. The return elevation, facing Windsor Place, extends for five windows and includes two dormer windows and an axial stack. The building occupies a prominent corner location, and is included in the listing to reflect its group value.
