Stable And Cartshed Range East Of Bradley Farmhouse

The stable and cart shed range located east of Bradley Farmhouse is a structure dating from the early 18th century, with an extension added in the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed of stone rubble, with part of the extension made from red brick, and features a clay plain tile roof with gabled ends.

The building has a long rectangular plan, with stables situated at the southern end that include a loft above. The northern end was extended in the mid to late 19th century to include a three-bay cart shed, and there is an outshut on the west side that contains a staircase leading to the loft.

On the exterior, the stable has a loft door in the south gable end, which is accompanied by a blocked window above and a wide new opening below. The cart shed at the north end features a red brick east front with three cart bays, each having elliptical arches. The roof extends over the outshut on the west side, with stairs at the south end providing access to the stable loft.

Inside, the loft over the stables has plastered walls and a roof structure that includes a 2-bay tie-beam and collar with staggered tenoned purlins, a diagonal ridge piece, and common rafters. The cart shed is supported by a king-post roof.
