Description

Priory House is a private residence that incorporates significant remains of a former priory, which was adapted for use as a dwelling during the Dissolution. The north range of the building is the monastic Infirmary Hall. The east range is an important late 15th century structure, featuring rich paneling and numerous windows, with an internal gallery both above and below. At the north end, there is the Infirmary Chapel with chambers located above it, and in the corner, a double spiral staircase leads to the Prior's Lodging. Additionally, at the south-west corner of the courtyard, there is a section of the 13th century Prior's Hall. The entire complex is an impressive domestic group set within picturesque gardens.
