Description

A pair of houses dated around 1800, located on Swan Hill. The buildings are constructed of brick with a slate roof. They are three storeys high and feature an eight-window front. A central doorway leads to a passage on the left side. Number 7 has a single-unit plan, while Number 8 has a two-unit plan with a central doorway and blind windows on the right. There is a blind window located centrally between the two houses. Each house has a six-panelled front door and fanlight, set within an architrave with panelled rebates, and a flat entablature supported by curved console brackets. Many of the original twelve-pane sash windows have been replaced. A heavy moulded eaves cornice runs along the top. There are two axial stacks, or chimneys, present. The right return side of the buildings has a similar three-window front with twelve-pane and nine-pane sashes. A two-pane sash window is on the ground floor to the left, and a blank window is on the first floor to the right. The doorcase, fanlight, and hood on the front are similar to the main façade. Number 1 Swan Hill Court is also included and was listed separately in 1969.
