Description
Nos. 9 and 10 Swan Hill are former dwellings, now used as a single office, and are part of a terrace of five units built around 1740. The buildings are constructed of brick, with No. 9 featuring a heavy slate roof and No. 10 having plain tiles. They are both two stories tall, with No. 9 having a four-window range and No. 10 a two-window range. The internal layout of both is interlocking and double pile.
The entrance to No. 9 is highlighted by a heavy pedimented porch supported by cylindrical shafts, featuring an overlight and panelled rebates around the doorcase. The windows are 12-pane flush-framed sashes with flat-arched gauged brick heads. No. 10 has a doorway with an overlight and panelled rebates leading to a moulded architrave. Both buildings have overhanging eaves with deep moulding and pedimented dormers in the roof. The gables are coped, and there are stacks at the end walls.
Inside, both houses retain original staircases, which include four turned balusters per tread, a swept handrail, and a panelled dado. No. 10 was listed on May 30, 1969.
