Description
The White House is a house, dating from the 16th or 17th century, remodelled in the mid-19th century with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of painted brick, which originally masked a timber frame, and has a plain tiled roof, raised to the front. A simple entry type has been converted. The house is two storeys high and has four bays. It contains 19th-century casement windows, with three on each floor; those to the left of the entrance have cambered heads. A 20th-century doorway and porch are present, with a brick ridge stack above and an end stack to the left. The rear elevation features close studding to the first floor and retains the original roof pitch. Inside, a decorated beam sits over the fireplace and a carved bracket supports the principal beam in the room to the left of the entrance.
