Description
The barn and horse trough located to the west of Number 36 High Street were built in the 18th century and 1854, respectively. The barn features a timber frame with red brick infill set on a sandstone plinth, topped with a plain tiled roof. It consists of two and a half structural bays, with weatherboarding below the eaves, two casement shutters, and a large entry on the north side. Inside, it has a queen post roof with straight windbraces and many re-used timbers.
The horse trough, made of cast iron and dated 1854, was created by H. Banks of Wolverhampton. It has a bowed shape and was relocated to this site to commemorate the marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer in 1981. The trough stands immediately to the south of the barn.
