Description
This barn, located approximately 40 meters east of Nant-y-Gollen, dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century and has undergone some alterations. It features a weatherboarded timber frame set on a high plinth made of uncoursed limestone rubble and brick, with rubblestone gable ends and a corrugated iron roof. The structure consists of four bays, with a former threshing bay situated in the second bay from the south.
Inside, the framing includes tall rectangular panels, with two extending from the cill to the wall-plate, and long straight tension braces dividing the bays. The double-purlin roof is supported by raking struts from the tie beams to the principal rafters. There is a loft above the northern bay and a fodder store located below the southern bay.
