Description
This barn, located approximately 20 meters south-west of Ty'n-y-coed, dates from the late 17th century and has undergone minor later alterations. It features a weatherboarded timber frame with uncoursed limestone rubble on the right gable end and a corrugated-iron roof. There are doorways on both the left and right sides, as well as a gabled eaves dormer positioned to the right of center. Inside, the framing is visible, consisting of square panels with two sections extending from the cill to the wall-plate, supported by long straight tension braces. The roof is a double-purlin structure spanning three wide bays, featuring raking struts from the tie beams to the principal rafters on the first and second trusses from the left, and collar and tie-beam end trusses on the left, which include V-struts from the collar. A loft has been inserted into the two left bays.
