Description
Pentre'r-gaer-henblas is a farmhouse built in 1732, as indicated by the datestone, and was re-modelled in the mid-19th century. The structure is made of uncoursed limestone rubble with 19th-century red brick dressings, topped with a slate roof and featuring integral end stacks with red brick shafts. The building has a T-plan layout, with a range added to the rear in the 19th century. It stands two storeys high and has three asymmetrical bays, with all windows being mid-19th century casements that have segmental brick heads and surrounds. A wide gabled porch is located slightly to the left of the centre, featuring a round-headed outer arch and a contemporary doorcase that holds a 18th-century six-panel inner door, although the top panels are now glazed. The datestone "RD/1732" is positioned between the centre and right-hand windows on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected but is said to contain a timber-framed cross wall. This farmhouse retains much of its early 18th-century fabric and forms a strong group with the adjacent barn.
