Pentregaer-Isaf

Pentregaer-Isaf is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with extensions added in the mid-19th century and further alterations made later. The building is constructed of uncoursed limestone rubble and features slate roofs. It has an L-shaped plan, with the original short range extended in the 19th century. The farmhouse is two storeys high; the main range has two mid-19th century cast-iron casements to the right of a boarded door on the left, with all ground-floor openings featuring segmental stone heads. The range at right angles to the left has three late 20th century casements below the eaves and mid-19th century casements to either side of a central boarded door, with ground-floor openings having yellow brick segmental heads. A prominent stone ridge stack with moulded brick capping is located to the left of the main range, along with an integral end stack featuring a 19th century brick shaft to the left of the projecting range. There is a stone outshut at the rear of the main range.

Inside, the main ground-floor room, which serves as the kitchen, has a chamfered spine beam, heavy joists, and a partly infilled inglenook fireplace. There are plank doors leading to the outshut and an oak winder staircase. A timber-framed cross wall with square panels separates this room from another on the right, which also has a timber-framed spine partition wall.
