Description
Staplehurst Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with a mid-19th century extension. It is built of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled concrete tile roof with brick end stacks. The farmhouse has a three-unit plan, is two storeys high with an attic, and has a symmetrical three-window range. It includes a late 19th century six-panelled door, two of which are glazed, and 20th century two-light casements, along with three gabled roof dormers. At the rear, there is an 18th century outshut. To the right, there are mid-19th century service ranges. Inside, the farmhouse has stone-flag floors and chamfered beams. The room on the left features a stop-chamfered bressumer above an open fireplace. There is also a cupboard with an 18th century plank door located beneath the winder stairs at the back of the central hall. The roof structure consists of butt-purlins and a collar truss on the left.
