Description

This is a late 16th or early 17th century farmhouse, which was remodelled in the 18th century and subsequently altered. The original timber frame has largely been rebuilt using uncoursed limestone rubble, which is painted, with a graded slate roof. The house originally consisted of two rooms with a central passage. It is one storey high with an attic. Some of the original timber framing remains, showing fragmentary square panelling with brick infill and short straight tension braces exposed on the rear wall. There are three-light casement windows from the 19th century, one on the left and one on the right of a roughly central gabled brick porch, which has a boarded door. Dormers with flat roofs were added in the 20th century to the left and right. A massive external end stack on the left side has had its top truncated and rebuilt in the late 20th century. A low stone outshut is located at the rear. The interior was not inspected, but is likely to be of interest.
