Description

Westley Farmhouse and an attached cast-iron pump are located in Condover and date from probably the early to mid-18th century, with later additions and alterations primarily from the late 19th century. The farmhouse is constructed of painted and plastered brick and features machine tile roofs. It has a hall with a projecting cross-wing to the right and mid- to late 19th-century additions at the rear and right. The building is two storeys high, with floor bands and a gable-lit attic, as well as cellars. The windows are all late 19th-century, consisting of 3-light segmental-headed casements, with one on each floor to the left of the hall range and to the cross-wing, along with a small top-light casement above a 20th-century boarded door in a lean-to porch at the angle between the hall and cross-wing. The farmhouse has an axial ridge stack to the right with four attached diamond shafts and an end stack to the left with paired diamond shafts. The interior has not been inspected, but it is noted to have a chamfered spine beam and heavy joists in the back room of the cross-wing, as well as encased ceiling beams in the left-hand room of the hall range. The mid- to late 19th-century cast-iron pump is attached to the right return of the cross-wing, situated behind the late 19th-century lean-to addition.
