Description
Little Lyth Farmhouse is a late 17th-century farmhouse with later additions and alterations. It is timber-framed with plastered infill and has plain tile roofs. The original structure comprised a three-bay hall and a one-bay cross-wing, likely added later, projecting to the left. The farmhouse has two storeys over cellars. The timber framing is largely renewed with some planted timbers, featuring four regularly spaced square panels from the cill to the wall-plate and short tension braces. The gable ends have V-struts from the collars. The fenestration is irregular, with four late 19th-century casement windows on the first floor of the hall and one on the ground floor on either side of a half-glazed door, which is set within a contemporary gabled porch. A red brick ridge stack with a moulded capping is located immediately to the left of the entrance. The cross-wing has a late 19th-century casement window on the first floor and a canted bay window on the ground floor. A lower, two-storey range, probably dating to the mid-19th century, projects at right angles to the rear on the right. A Salop Fire Insurance plate, numbered 5334, is positioned above the porch.
