Description

Rushbury Lodge is a lodge built in the early 19th century, located approximately 750 metres north of Millichope Park. The structure is made of stone rubble, featuring coursed rubble pilasters with a simple ashlar band that forms an entablature. It has a plain-tile roof with three slightly projecting gables that have wooden verges, along with linking wooden cornices that create simple pediments. A central brick ridge stack is present.

The lodge has a T-shaped plan, with a projecting gable and a cross wing at the back, each wing ending in a pedimented gable. It is a single storey with a basement. The front façade includes pairs of pilasters on either side of an opening in the central gable-end, which forms a simple portico that covers a four-panelled front door. The return sides of the wing feature opposing wooden mullion and transom windows set in brick segmental-arched openings. At the rear, there are two wooden mullion and transom windows in similar brick segmental-arched openings, along with a single window of the same type in each return gable-end. The left gable-end has a small 20th-century lean-to extension. Additionally, there are two basement casements flanking the central door.

The lodge is built in the same architectural style and period as the nearby Estate Yard Cottage group. The interior has not been inspected.
