Description
The Old Schoolhouse, formerly known as Prospect House, is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century, which was refaced and extended in the early 19th century. It is constructed from stuccoed limestone rubble and features a slate roof that is hipped to the right. The building has an L-plan layout and consists of two storeys and an attic. There are end stacks, with the right stack being external, and a central late 19th-century flat-topped dormer that contains a three-light casement window.
The façade has three bays with glazing bar sashes. The central entrance features a six flush-panelled door flanked by panelled pilaster strips and sidelights, topped by a segmental radial fanlight. Inside, there is an early to mid-18th-century staircase that rises two storeys, consisting of three flights per storey with landings and a square well. The staircase has turned balusters, a moulded handrail, and square newel posts. Surviving deeds are in the possession of the current occupier as of July 1984.
