Statues of Philomathes and Polymathes set into gable wall of library. Early C17, resited. Sandstone. 2 figures in costume of the period in aedicule with shell niches between fluted Ionic pilasters. Greek inscriptions and obelisks and strapwork over. Underneath is the royal coat of arms and an inscription tablet recording: "His ego fundamen domitus quas, advena, cernis testificor refis me positum esse manu: nec tamen ipse aderat: vis cominus ignem tactu emicat in Jussum subsideoque locum. Adv non IVI anno. Scolae condite CCC LXIII".
