Description
Pengwern Boat House is a boathouse built in the late 19th century. It is constructed of brick featuring mock timber work and some herringbone brick on the side wall, topped with a plain tiled roof that has ridge cresting. The building is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical layout, with a wide brick boat store on the ground floor that projects forward from the main house, its roof creating a balcony. The boat store includes three segmental archways and one inserted arch.
The main house features a gable with a lean-to on one side and a wing to the right. There is a canted bay window in the gable, which has French doors and a fanlight in the central gable, along with a three-light casement window at the apex of the gable. The initials PBC, representing the Pengwern Boat Club, are displayed in the gable. On the return elevation, there are three 12-pane sash windows in the outshut, as well as two wide gabled dormers. The flanking wing to the right has paired sash windows, and there are two axial stacks on the building.
