Description
This is a farmbuilding with an attached wall and gateway, located approximately 30 meters north-east of Burlton Hall. It was built in the late 19th century and altered in the 20th century. The farmbuilding is constructed of red brick and has a slate roof, while the wall features sandstone coping on its east gable.
The east gable of the farmbuilding includes 14 rows of pigeon nesting holes and ledges, topped by a rectangular brick shaft that supports a miniature gabled dovecote. This dovecote is corbelled and features toothed and dentilled bands, along with a graded slate roof. The wall, which is attached at a right angle to the north-east, has a slightly projecting gateway with a pointed arch. This gateway is flanked by elaborately moulded chimney-like piers that resemble stone flues, and it includes a contemporary nail-studded door. The building is noted for its group value with Burlton Hall.
