Description
Church Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century, with alterations and additions made in the early 19th century. The building is timber framed, featuring painted brick and rendered infill panels, and has been partially rebuilt and extended in red brick. It has plain tile roofs and is arranged in an L-plan, likely consisting of three framed bays with a later wing at the rear. The farmhouse is two storeys high with a gable-lit attic and has external brick end stacks. Notable architectural details include a dentil brick eaves cornice and an integral lateral brick stack on the rear wing. The framing displays close studding with a middle rail and herringbone-framed panels on the first floor. The front has three windows, with late 19th-century two- and three-light wooden casements on the first floor and two ground-floor wooden-framed metal cross-windows to the right. There is a central 19th-century timber-framed gabled porch featuring a two-light window on the front and a door in the right-hand return front with six flush panels. To the left of the central window, there is a blocked first-floor window and two blocked ground-floor windows. The west front of the rear wing has scattered segmental-headed two-light casements and an off-centre door to the left with four flush panels and a 20th-century gabled porch. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
