Description
Walnut Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that has undergone 20th-century alterations. It features a timber frame with rendered brick and block nogging, topped by a thatched roof. The cottage has a baffle-entry plan consisting of three framed bays and is one storey high with an attic. There is a brick ridge stack located above the door, which is positioned to the left of the center. To the right, there are two gabled eaves dormers that contain 20th-century two-light diamond-leaded casements. The framing includes square panels, with two extending from the sole-plate to the wall-plate, and short straight corner braces. The front of the cottage has three windows fitted with 20th-century diamond-leaded casements. Between the first and second windows from the left, there is a 20th-century boarded door that is sheltered by a thatched porch. To the right, there is a 20th-century lean-to addition featuring a three-light casement window and a plain tile roof. The left-hand gable end reveals an exposed collar and tie-beam truss with queen struts and V-struts. Inside, the cottage has chamfered beams and an open fireplace.
