Description
This barn, located approximately 15 meters north-east of Caia Farmhouse, dates from the late 17th century and has undergone later additions and alterations. It features a timber frame clad in corrugated iron and red brick, topped with a corrugated-iron roof over thatch. The barn has two doorways on the left and one on the right, with wide double doors positioned to the left of center. There are eaves hatches above the left doorway and to the left of the double doors.
Inside, the framing is visible, consisting of rectangular panels with two sections extending from the cill to the wall-plate, along with vertical posts. There are straight braces connecting the wall posts to the tie beams, and two square panels located under the tie beam of the first truss from the right. The roof is a single-purlin structure spanning seven bays, featuring a mix of queen-strut trusses and raking struts from the tie beams to the principal rafters, along with straight wind braces and original thatching spars. An inserted loft is present in the right bay. Caia Farmhouse is not included in this listing.
