Description
Nether Skyborry is a house dating from the early to mid-19th century, possibly incorporating an earlier structure. It features a stucco exterior, likely applied over coursed limestone rubble, and has a slate roof with integral end, ridge, and lateral brick stacks topped with diamond-shaped chimney shafts. The building has an irregular L-plan and presents three gables to the south and two to the west, with the entrance located in a 20th-century lobby to the southeast. The architectural style is Tudor Gothic.
The house is two storeys high and primarily features glazing-bar sash windows, some of which have 4-centred heads. The gable end to the west includes a first-floor sash window and a ground-floor canted bay with French casements. There is a two-storey porch at the right angle of the building, which has a first-floor sash window and a pair of 4-panelled doors leading to a late 20th-century weather porch.
On the west front, there are two gables, with the left gable positioned over a two-storey canted bay that contains three-light wooden mullioned and transomed windows. The south front of the west wing features two first-floor three-light casements with gables above, flanking a central projection that has a segmental-headed ground-floor casement and a tall full dormer with a small blind window. Inside, there is an early 19th-century staircase located in the stair wing adjoining the porch to the east.
