Description
Nantiago is a vicarage, now a house, that likely dates from the 15th or 16th century and was remodelled and extended in the early 19th century. It features a timber frame of cruck construction, with painted and rendered coursed limestone rubble and a slate roof. The building is thought to be a former hall house with at least three framed bays, later refaced with flanking additions that include Gothick details. It has one storey and an attic, with 19th-century brick ridge stacks positioned off-centre to the left and right, each topped with paired diamond shafts. The gabled front has four large central gables and two smaller gables to the right, all adorned with plain barge boards. There are seven windows, which include two-light casements with Gothick lights and returned hoodmoulds. The ground floor features three square bays, with the outer pair having Gothick French casements and the inner one containing a 20th-century six-panelled door. The lower left-hand block includes a gable-lit attic. Inside, there are four full cruck trusses of the Alcock apex-type B.
