Description
Lower Panpunton is a farmhouse, now a house, likely built in the 17th century with alterations and additions from the 18th century and mid-to-late 19th century. The building is constructed of pebbledashed limestone rubble and has a slate roof. It is one storey high with an attic. There is a large brick ridge stack located off-centre to the left and an integral brick end stack to the right.
The right gable features a three-light 19th-century wooden casement window, while a full dormer on the left has a two-light 19th-century wooden casement. There are also 19th-century gabled eaves dormers above doors on both the left and right, each with two-light wooden casements. The front of the house has three windows, with a mix of two- and three-light casements from the 19th and 20th centuries. To the left, there is a half-glazed door, and between the first and second windows from the right, there is a four-panelled door with octagonal top-lights.
At the rear, there is a full dormer and two eaves dormers. Inside, there is an early 18th-century dog-leg staircase with landings, a closed string, turned balusters, a moulded handrail, and square newel posts. The early 18th-century cellar door features a ventilated panel with splat balusters shaped to resemble barley-sugar turned balusters.
