Description
St Leonard's Restorations, formerly known as the Church of St Leonard, is located on Corve Street in Ludlow. This building, designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott, was constructed in 1873. It features coursed square stone with stone dressings and a plain tile roof, complete with stone coped gables and finials, reflecting a lancet style.
The church consists of a 2-bay choir and a 3-bay nave, which has a bellcote positioned over the nave arch and a south porch. The choir is highlighted by a triple lancet east window that includes attached shafts, capitals, moulded arches, and hoodmoulds. Above this is a rose window, characterized by spokes formed by colonnettes with foliage capitals. The corners of the structure are supported by clasping buttresses. The sides of the building feature two similar lancet windows with hoodmoulds, alongside a nave arch wall that has buttresses with set-offs and gables. The bellcote above has a double-arched opening with a cross carved in relief.
The south porch is adorned with buttresses and features a doorway with a hoodmould, flanked by lancet windows on either side. Inside, the church boasts a scissor-braced roof. The building now serves as an antiques showroom.
