Description

This is an 18th-century house, likely with earlier origins, located on Corve Street in Ludlow. It is now used as offices. The front of the building is painted brick with a Welsh slate roof and is two storeys high, featuring a three-window arrangement. The windows are late 19th-century 2/2 sash windows, set within moulded surrounds and topped with segmental arches. A late 19th-century central door, with a matching overlight, is recessed within a plain case and sheltered by a moulded hood supported on fluted consoles, flanked by similar sash windows. A string course runs above the ground floor. The left-hand gable is of rubble construction, with dressed quoins to the rear, and contains a 19th-century casement window within a partly bricked-up oak frame. A rear wing is built of rubble and includes an oak lintel over a blocked doorway, now containing a small window. Modern windows and doors have been inserted into this wing, and the roof has been raised towards the front. The rear of the main range has three blocked openings, two at first-floor level, each with a segmental brick arch. A cross wing on the right has a coped parapet with kneelers. A right-hand wing to the rear is constructed of rubble and 19th-century brickwork.
