Description
No. 15 on Drayton Road is a house dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century, with later alterations from the late 19th or 20th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick infill set on a painted tooled chamfered dressed sandstone plinth, topped by a plain tile roof. The framing consists of irregular square panels, with two panels extending from the sole plate to the former wall plate, and tension braces. The eaves were raised by about one panel's height during the 19th or 20th century. The end walls are square-panelled, with three and four panels from the sole plate to the wall plate. Originally, the house had a baffle-entry plan with three framed bays and is one storey high with an attic. There is an off-centre brick ridge stack to the right, which was rebuilt above the ridge in the late 19th or 20th century. The front has five windows, featuring one- and two-light wooden casements, along with three late 19th or 20th century gabled semi-dormers. There is a small square staircase window to the left and evidence of a blocked segmental-headed door to the right, which has been replaced by a window. The end trusses have collar and tie-beams with queen struts and V-struts, and they appear to be unpegged, indicating they may have been reconstructed, likely in the 20th century. The entrance is now located at the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
