Description

HODNET C.P. DRAYTON ROAD (South-east SJ 6028-6128 side) 13/51 No. 15 - - II

Shown on O.S. map as Nos. 15 and 16. House. Late C16 or early C17 with late C19 or C20 alterations. Timber framed with painted brick infill on painted tooled chamfered dressed sandstone plinth. Plain tile roof. Framing: irregular square panels (2 from sole plate to former wall plate) with tension braces. Eaves raised by approximately one panel's height in C19 or C20. Square- panelled end walls (3 and 4 from sole plate to wall plate). Former baffle-entry plan of 3 framed bays. One storey and attic. Brick ridge stack off-centre to right (rebuilt above ridge inlate C19 or C20). 3 late C19 or C20 gabled semi-dormers with 2-light wooden casements. 5-window front; one- and 2-light wooden casements; small square staircase- window to left. Evidence of blocked segmental-headed door to right (now replaced by window). Collar and tie-beam end trusses with queen struts and V-struts. The end trusses appear to be unpegged which suggests that they have been reconstructed at some time, probably in the C20. Entrance now at rear. Interior not inspected.
