Description
This building is a barn and cowhouse located approximately 35 metres southeast of Bicton Farmhouse. It dates from the early to mid-18th century and the early 19th century. The structure is made of coursed limestone rubble and features weatherboarded timber framing, topped with a roof of slate and graded stone slate. It is designed in an L-shape.
The left-hand range consists of five framed bays, with a gabled loft entry on the left, low double doors on the right, and two ground floor boarded hatches to the left. There is a lean-to at the left-hand end and a gabled rubble mill projection to the northeast, which retains a pinion and some machinery. The right-hand range is partially timber-framed, with the two end bays made of rubble. It includes two stable doors and two windows on the ground floor, along with a lean-to that fills the angle of the L on the left.
Inside the left-hand range, there are queen strut-trusses and a staggered-purlin roof.
