Description
Nos. 20, 20A and 21 Mardol is a pair of shops with offices above, originally two dwellings that may have included shops, dated 1706. The building features a rendered exterior over brick and has a plain tiled roof. It stands three storeys high with an attic and has a seven-window range. Late 20th-century shop fronts have been inserted on either side of the original entrance arch, which leads to an internal passage. The string course above is dated and is interrupted by the shop fronts. The first-floor windows consist of three-light metal casements, while the second-floor windows are mostly 12-pane sashes, although the fenestration is interrupted on the right-hand side where the windows have been renewed. The building has a moulded wood modillion eaves cornice, angle quoins, and central rainwater goods with an enriched lead head. There are four hipped dormer windows in the roof, along with gable and axial stacks.
