Description
The building consists of staff quarters, stables, and outbuildings, located 10 meters north of Downton Hall. It dates from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries and is constructed of brick, rubble, and weatherboarding, with roofs made of Welsh slate and plain tiles, along with various brick stacks. The structure forms a courtyard range and is two storeys high with a seven-window facade.
The central bay features three fixed lights with glazing bars, set beneath a moulded pediment that contains a clock. To the left are two 3/3 sash windows, and to the right are two fixed lights, all framed by gauged brick flat arches with stucco keyblocks. There are pilaster strips at the corners and the central bay. The building includes a central 20th-century garage door, an altered 6/6 sash window, and a 6-fielded-panel door with a barred overlight to the left, while the right side has a 20th-century plank door and an altered 6/6 sash window, both also under gauged brick flat arches with stucco keyblocks.
A wing to the left features a plank door under a segmental arch, while the right side has two-light casements, cross-windows, and a plank door. The rear wing includes various fixed lights, casements, and entrances. The staff quarters are located in a weatherboarded range at the back. The interior has not been inspected but the building is noted as an intact range of service buildings.
