Description
2 and 3 Raven Lane are houses dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. They are constructed of brick with a plain tile roof and brick end stacks. The buildings are two stories tall and have a cellar, featuring a three-window range. The windows include two late 19th century, 2/2 sash windows, and one late 19th century, 4/4 sash window, all set in broad cases.
The entrances are located at the center. For No. 2, there is a part-glazed late 19th century, 6-panel door beneath a simple flat hood supported by plain pilasters. No. 3 has a late 19th century, two-leaf, half-glazed door in a panelled case, also under a moulded flat hood on plain pilasters. To the right of No. 3, there is a late 19th century shopfront with a blocked doorway, featuring a 20th century cross-window, and a window with glazing bars. This shopfront has a simple moulded hood and fascia on plain pilasters, with two segmental arches above and a storey band.
The right side of the building has a rendered gable with heavy purlins visible. The rear is constructed of rubble with brick quoins and dressings, featuring a central 4/4 sash window flanked by two 2/2 sashes, one of which is in an altered opening. There is a central 6-panel door under a moulded flat hood on narrow pilasters, also in an altered opening, flanked by 6/6 sashes in altered openings. A cambered oak lintel is present over the cellar entrance on the left side. Each house has one roof dormer with metal casements beneath lath and plaster gables. Inside, there is a 19th century staircase with plain balusters.
