Description

This is a late 18th-century house and shop on Castle Street in Ludlow. It is a double-depth plan building of four storeys and a cellar, with a simple brick facade and a plain tile roof. The building has four bays. The lower two floors have 6/6 sash windows in moulded surrounds, each set within a gauged brick flat arch with stucco key blocks. The third floor has vertical opening casement windows with glazing bars, also in similar surrounds. A moulded wooden cornice runs along the top of the facade, above which there is a coped parapet. The ground floor has a 20th-century shopfront with central entrance, supported by cast-iron pillars. To the left of the entrance is a four-panel door with a fanlight, within a round-headed case featuring a key block above the door. A fascia board partly hides a stucco band.
