Old Farmhouse and Malthouse Attached to Rear

The Old Farmhouse and attached malthouse date from the 16th or 17th century, with later additions and alterations. The farmhouse features cement rendering on a painted stone plinth that conceals a partly visible timber frame at the rear, along with painted brick on the ground floor. It has machine tiled roofs and two red brick ridge stacks. The building has a T-shaped plan and is two storeys high, with a gable fronted north-south range that is likely composed of four structural bays. The first floor has a jetty at the gable end supported by carved corner brackets and exposed joist ends. There is a 20th-century doorway in the angle with a two-bay cross wing to the east, along with 20th-century additions to the west. The windows include 20th-century metal casements, one in the cross wing, one above the doorway, and one in the gable end. The 17th-century malthouse, now part of the house, is attached to the rear. It is timber framed on a sandstone base, two storeys above a cellar, and has a gabled east side with two light stone mullioned windows on the ground floor.
