Description

The Old Police House, formerly known as No. 3 Sydney Court, is a shop that was originally a dwelling, dating from the early 18th century, with the possibility of an earlier core. It is constructed of brick and has a plain tiled roof. The building stands two storeys above a basement and features a five-window range. The central doorway is adorned with a traceried overlight, while the 12-pane sash windows on either side have segmental heads. The upper windows are mullioned and transomed, with some having been blocked. The roof includes three dormers. The cellars of the house still contain remnants of cells from its previous function as a courthouse and gaol.
