Description

The statue of Charles Darwin, created in 1897 by H Montford, is located in front of the library in Shrewsbury. This statue features a seated bronze figure mounted on a polished granite plinth, which is elevated on two steps. The base of the statue includes Darwin's dates and bears the signature of the sculptor, as well as the founders, Broad and Son.
