Description

This is an outbuilding located approximately 20 metres north of The Old Post Office. It dates from the late 17th century and has early 19th-century alterations and additions. The structure is timber framed, with a sandstone plinth and red brick nogging. The first floor is made of red brick, and there is a squared and coursed sandstone addition to the east, topped with old tile roofs.

The building has one framed bay to the west and is one to two storeys high. The framing consists of square panels with straight braces. The gable end to the west is parapeted and features toothed brick coping and a blank pointed-arched recess. There is a boarded loft door on the north side.

The early 19th-century alterations are similar in style to other unique outbuildings constructed on the Tong Estate by George Durant the younger, who died in 1844. This building is included for its group value.
