Description

These former stables, located approximately 7 meters to the northeast of Lower House and Lower House Cottage (formerly Lower House Farmhouse), likely date from the mid to late 18th century. They are constructed of coursed yellow sandstone rubble with sandstone dressings, and some later red brick dressings on certain openings. The building features a plain tile roof and is two stories high.

On the northwest front, there are two boarded loft doors positioned in the center and to the right, a central ground floor segmental-headed casement, and two segmental-headed two-leaf boarded doors to the right. The southeast front, facing the road, has two casements that were probably inserted later, along with a 20th-century concrete-block bus shelter attached to the right, which is not of special architectural interest. Inside, the stables have chamfered beams with plain stops. This building is included for its group value.
