Description
The Old Rectory is a rectory that has been converted into a house, dating from around 1820. It features a stucco exterior that is lined to resemble ashlar stone, topped with a hipped slate roof. The building has two storeys, a plinth, and deep eaves, with two pairs of integral brick end stacks and one brick ridge stack.
The entrance front has three bays, with glazing bar sash windows and two ground-floor canted bays that contain four-pane sashes. Access is via three stone steps leading up to two half-glazed doors, which have margin lights and flush lower panels. These doors are framed by a moulded architrave and a porch supported by square piers with moulded capitals, which hold up a frieze and cornice.
On the garden front, the layout consists of one bay, three bays, and one bay, featuring a central two-storey half-octagonal bay with central French casements. There is a verandah on the ground floor supported by latticework and a frieze, topped with a tented lead canopy. To the right, there is a service wing that is set back, with a hipped roof and a ridge stack. This wing has three bays, with glazing bar sashes, except for two-light 20th-century casements on the right side.
Inside, there is an early 19th-century staircase with three flights, which is top-lit and features winders, an open-string design, stick balusters (two per tread), and a wreathed handrail.
