Description
Grange Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 19th century, possibly incorporating an earlier core, with additions from the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed of painted brick, with a rendered left-hand end wall, along with red brick and coursed yellow sandstone rubble additions, topped by a plain tile roof. The building has an L-shaped plan and consists of one storey and attic as well as two storeys. Notable features include a moulded brick eaves cornice and three brick stacks at the rear. The facade has four bays with glazing bar sashes. The door, located in the second bay from the right, features six flush panels (the top two are glazed), a reeded impost band, a radial fanlight, and panelled reveals and soffit, all framed by panelled pilasters. A cast iron Gothic porch, similar to one found at Lower Winnington Farmhouse in Wollaston, showcases quatrefoil decoration, an interlacing frieze, and a moulded cornice. At the rear, there are two parallel gabled wings, one of which includes a dovecote in its gable end. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
