Description
This building, known as the premises occupied by Aspinall's, is a two-storey office structure located in Shrewsbury. It dates back to the 16th century but was refronted in the 19th century and underwent further alterations in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of brick and features a plain tiled roof. It has a three-window range and is accessed by steps on the right side. The windows are 12-pane sash windows with flat-arched brick heads, all of which have been renewed, and there are three dormers in the roof. The eaves cornice is dentilled.
Inside, the internal gable walls are made of stone, and there is a fireplace that cuts through a blocked doorway with a segmental arch and voussoirs in the right-hand gable wall. The roof structure includes queen post and queen strut roof trusses, along with chamfered cross ceiling beams. The cellars below are part of the Hole in the Wall public house located on Shoplatch.
