Description
No. 5 Shoplatch is a shop building dated 1882, constructed from painted brick and topped with a Welsh slate roof. It stands four storeys tall with an attic and features two bays. The ground floor has an inserted shop front and a passage entrance on the left. Above the ground floor, the facade is divided into bays by polygonal pilasters. There are two canted oriel bay windows with a balustraded parapet, and wide four-light mullioned and transomed windows above them. The keystones of the upper windows create a pilaster effect on the fourth storey, which includes four sash windows set in moulded architraves. At the centre, there is a pedimented Dutch gable with stone dressings and a single sash window. To the right, a coped gable features a stack with a moulded stone cap and bands. A rear wing may be slightly older than the main structure.
